About Us
Lucky Sevan
Se·van
Biographical and Geographical name
- Armenian origin meaning Life Giving Sweet Water.
- Lake Sevan ( Sevana lič) is the largest lake in Armenia. It is one of the largest freshwater high-altitude lakes in the world.
- Destiny Number is 7.
From its modest beginnings in the summer of 2006, the notion was born in the minds of two humble engineering college students feeling compelled to mentor two disadvantaged young men in their community, and share their love of surfing in San Diego, between long and grueling semesters.
Surfing provided a sense of peace, much-needed rejuvenation, and a clearer perspective, unlike that found in any other activity they knew. The following year, they picked the name from the (7) seven young men they ended up hosting on Pacific Beach, calling it “Lucky Sevan”.
We’re Honored to Be Endorsed by
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint
On May 25, 2022, Elder Brad Giles officially approved a partnership allowing Service Missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve at Lucky Sevan Retreats. We are grateful for this meaningful endorsement and are proud to support the service efforts of these missionaries in their unique mission assignments.
Elders Hartley and Brady became the first Service Missionaries to serve as L7 Jr. Mentors—paving the way for future missionaries to make an impact through leadership, mentorship, and Christ-centered service at our retreats.
We are thankful for the trust placed in us and remain committed to upholding the values and standards of the Church as we continue to empower and uplift youth through faith-driven experiences.

ABOUT THE LUCKY SEVAN FOUNDERS
Lucky Sevan was formally named in 2007, when Evan Rogers, Paul Miller, and Todd Skinner went to work inviting young people to the program with the sole purpose of strengthening and empowering them through one-on-one mentoring to bring them closer to their Savior, Jesus Christ. Today, the Lucky Sevan Foundation continues to thrive with over 900 adult volunteer mentors and 3,000 youth served – and counting – in their youth leadership retreat surf camps over the years.
