Why L7?

Today’s youth require more specific and relatable tools to successfully navigate the covenant path. Through much fasting and prayer over the years, “line by line and precept upon precept” we have been directed as we have sought divine help on how to more effectively engage, teach, and inspire Church youth of today. The youth of today CAN and MUST do hard things. They can learn accountability and be shown how to access the Atonement of Jesus Christ to become the best versions of themselves.

Faithful parents and church leaders within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are worried that many of their youth are just going through the motions and have become spiritually disengaged. Lucky Sevan has found that these parents and leaders need other options to reach their youth and get them to embrace “a change of mind, a fresh view about God, about oneself, and about the world around them,” while also exposing them to all the foundational pillars of life. L7 can provide this experience by exposing young people to the right mixture of fun, intellectual, spiritual, social, and physical activities. This includes youth-tailored workshops which educate them on effective tools for success and peace they can add to their toolbelt. Through these experiences, these youth are empowered to further shape their true and divine character and prepare themselves for all of life’s future challenges and successes.

The venue in which we learn is critical for youth today to receive insight and revelation about themselves. An ideal environment allows the youth to participate in meaningful discussions, and it facilitates a community of inclusion and trust to build the youth’s self-confidence and self-worth. L7 creates this environment for all youth who seek to foster the physical, mental, spiritual, and social/emotional disciplines that are essential pillars to promote growth and greater success throughout adulthood.

The mission of Lucky Sevan is to use the beach, Mother Ocean, and the surfing experience as the backdrop to teach young people how to view life’s challenges as opportunities for growth in a loving, supportive, and inclusive environment. In addition to learning what it takes to ride a wave, the youth will gain a deeper understanding and respect for themselves and what they can contribute to the world. Among other things, they will learn the importance of self-discipline, teamwork, service, and spiritual balance through meaningful, atonement-based, hands-on object lessons, which are centered in the Savior, Jesus Christ.
